Meet the doulas: Amber Dawn Hallet

Who are the doulas who volunteer with the BADP?  They’re amazing, diverse people, doing so much great work in the world, it’s hard to believe any of them has time to volunteer with us.  We’ve been using this space to introduce you to many of the BADP doulas.  This week, we’re featuring a founding member of the BADP, Amber Dawn Hallet.

Amber Dawn Hallet is a birth doula, and delighted to have helped found the Bay Area Doula Project. She is a life-long believer in the power of women’s bodies and women’s choices.  Back in college she got her start by creating a safe space for students and faculty members to share the stories of their own abortions.  It was widly popular and deeply moving, and opened her eyes to power and emotional complexity of each individual experience with abortion.  She later started working as a birth doula around the world, and has now settled down in San Francisco where she adores helping mamas bring their little ones gently into the world.  Her current work in founding the BADP represents a beautiful weaving together of her fascination with women’s health, doula work and abortion.  She is committed to being a loving, supportive, and radically respectful presence for women in the midst of thse immense life transitions so that they can emerge strong, empowered, and ready to dive in to the rest of their lives.
